Short take from the cab: this is a machine built for mud and heavy loads. Artic joint with rubber-metal rings - almost no service and keeps traction as the bog gets worse. Locking diffs are dog-gear type, they lock solid and pull you out; be careful with the auto-lock mode though, it can try to engage when wheels are bouncing and that confuses things. Body has front-wall heater so clay and wet sand don't stick as much, there's a visual marker you can see in the mirror which helps when dumping at an edge, camera setup available too. Parking brake is on the driveshaft and there are hydraulic accumulators so the brakes hold even without pump pressure. Not a luxury cab, but controls are straightforward and service points are reachable.

Been on the Volvo 8900 mostly for intercity hauls. First thing, the driver's spot is real ergonomic and you don't feel cramped even after a long shift. I dig the adjustable steering and seat heating, comes in handy during cold mornings. Engine's punchy enough and smooth, rarely feel like I’m lacking power. Haven’t faced any big issues with reliability yet, but the climate system isn't super intuitive and takes a bit to get the hang of all the controls. Could use a bit more storage space for drivers, honestly. Doors open smooth with the electric system. Not the cheapest, but you get a lot for what you pay.
